Recently, Huazhong University of Science & Technology (HUST) successfully signed a new round of the EU Erasmus+ faculty and student exchange agreement with the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). Under this agreement, Guo Qiyu, a student from ICARE Class of 2023, will travel to NTUA’s Aerodynamics Laboratory for a three-month research internship titled “RANS CFD Analysis on Camber Morphing Airfoil with Vortex Generators,” under the guidance of ICARE European mentor Marinos Manolesos.

As an important cooperative scholarship program in the field of higher education funded by the European Union, the Erasmus+ program is renowned for its strict selection criteria. Since its launch in 2014, it has expanded its exchange scope beyond Europe, promoting cross-cultural knowledge sharing and skill development through academic mobility between higher education institutions. This is the second time ICARE has facilitated an EU Erasmus+ faculty and student exchange agreement between HUST and NTUA.

During the first cooperation, ICARE successfully sent one faculty member and one student to NTUA for academic exchanges, achieving remarkable results. The new agreement will continue to provide high-quality international research collaboration opportunities for faculty and students from both institutions.

Founded in 1836, the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) is Greece’s oldest institution of higher learning and is highly regarded in engineering disciplines. Ranked first in Greece in the 2025 QS World University Rankings, its wind energy research team has led or participated in over 50 EU and national projects over the past three decades, gaining international acclaim in areas such as wind turbine aerodynamics and noise reduction technologies.
The signing of this Erasmus+ agreement coincides with the renewal of the universities’ ten-year strategic cooperation agreement. Taking this opportunity, both sides aim to deepen collaboration in joint training, scientific research, faculty-student exchanges, and other areas, jointly elevating China-Greece higher education cooperation to new heights.
